What we are looking for
We are seeking a Tax Manager specializing in real estate partnership taxation to join
our growing tax practice.
We are looking for a tax professional with experience at a Big 4, national accounting
firm, or large regional/mid-market public accounting firm who has developed deep
expertise in complex real estate partnership structures.
The Tax Manager will manage and review a portfolio of sophisticated real estate
partnership engagements, serve as a trusted advisor to clients, and provide technical
leadership to the tax team. The ideal candidate has strong command of partnership
taxation and understands how complex real estate transactions, partnership
agreements, book and tax capital, and tax allocations interact.

Job duties
- Manage complex real estate partnership tax engagements from planning through
- completion
- Oversee and review federal and state partnership tax returns, including Form
- 1065 and Schedule K-1s
- Review partnership allocations, capital accounts, basis calculations, and
- supporting tax workpapers
- Review tax treatment of real estate acquisitions, dispositions, contributions,
- distributions, refinancings, and ownership changes
- Review and resolve complex partnership tax issues, including 704(b) capital
- accounts, 704(c) allocations, target capital allocations, basis step-ups, Section
- 754 elections, and 743(b) adjustments
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and manage engagement
- communications
- Identify missing information and drive resolution of technical and accounting
- issues
- Review work prepared by Associates and provide technical guidance and
- feedback
- Train and mentor tax professionals and contribute to development of the tax
- team
- Manage engagement timelines, workflow, and deliverables during peak
- compliance periods
- Perform and oversee tax research and communicate technical conclusions to
- clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with accounting, bookkeeping, and advisory teams on client matters
- Identify opportunities to improve engagement efficiency, profitability, and client
- service
- Help develop standardized processes and leverage technology, automation, and
- AI to improve tax workflows
Requirements
- 4+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience, with significant
- experience in real estate partnership taxation
- Strong technical knowledge of partnership taxation, including 704(b) capital
- accounts, tax basis, 704(c) allocations, target capital allocations, and related
- partnership adjustments
- Experience reviewing complex partnership tax returns and workpapers and
- providing technical guidance to preparers
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and client
- relationships independently
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor
- and develop other tax professionals
Preferred qualifications (not required)
- CPA license
- Experience with GoSystem Tax RS

Location and schedule
This is a virtual (remote), full-time role that demands availability between 9am-6pm EST Monday-Friday and extended busy season hours for candidates based in US.
